A 42" heavyweight hoop averages 1 lb. 8 oz. The weight slightly decreases with the diameter
Are your hoops weighted?
Slyk Style Hoops are heavier than regular hula hoops due to their size and decorative taping. However, our dance hoops do not contain any water for added weight. We do not recommend weighted hoops for Hoop Dancing because they can be uncomfortable to use. In the end, it's your choice and requests for water weighted hoops will be fulfilled (additional shipping based on weight may apply).
How do I know what size is right for me?
If you are a beginner we recommend a 41"- 42" hoop. This diameter allows you to get the hang of the motion needed to keep your hoop rotating. In addition, this size hoop allows the adequate space needed to learn new tricks.
As your skills progress hooping with a smaller hoop may feel more comfortable. Smaller hoops rotate faster which enables you to increase your speed for tricks or dance at a faster pace.
Should I order a light or heavyweight hoop?
It's great to have both in your collection. Lightweight is great for learning new moves (less bruises), while heavyweight is great for refining the new moves. Hooping increases muscle tone, so hooping with a heavier hoop will be more beneficial for your body.

Exercise Hoops
How much do your exercise hoops weigh?
Slyk Style Exercise Hoops are heavier than Dance Hoops. They are made with larger tubing and the total average weight is 2.25 lbs
Can water be added to increase the weight?
Yes, water can be added to increase the weight of an Exercise Hoop up to 4 lbs. Shipping charges will be based on the weight of your hoop.
Do you recommend water weighted hoops?
Water weighted hoops are a highly debated topic amongst the hooping community. Depending on the hooper, adding water to a hoop can sometimes make the hooping experience uncomfortable. True, water weighted hoops require more muscle to keep the hoop around your waist. However, decreasing the diameter of your exercise hoop can provide an all around better workout. With a smaller diameter you need to work harder to keep your hoop rotating. This increases your heart rate providing a better cardio workout. Also, you will be increasing the rotations per minute which will increase toning.

How to Care for Your Hoop
*Hoop in open areas on soft ground like grass or carpet. Banging into furniture or dropping your hoop on gravel may decrease the beauty of your beloved hoop.
*The best method for storing your hoop is to lay it flat. If you choose to hang it on a wall, be sure to rotate it frequently to avoid warping.
*If your hoop does get a little wonky, set it in the sun for a SHORT while. Once it is warm you will be able to reshape it.
*Never leave your hoop resting in the sun or in a vehicle for prolonged periods. This is probably the easiest way to damage your hoop. So be MINDFUL!
*When your hoop looks dirty give it a bath. Clean with a something slightly abrasive, like the scratchy side of a sponge. Use warm water and a little soap to clean up the dirty spots. If you have a decorative tape, especially mirror, on your hoop do not clean with anything scratchy.
